MOREE MAYOR KATRINA HUMPHRIES TO STEP DOWN AFTER 13 YEARS

After more than a decade serving the Moree Plains community, mayor Katrina Humphries has decided it’s time to step down.

Ms Humphries took the top spot in 2008 and has since helped the local community battle through drought, bushfires and floods.

The mayor says she won’t be contesting in the next local government election in September – saying it’s someone else’s turn to take the reigns.

She plans to spend her retirement with family, after recently welcoming a new grandson.
