A 44-year-old man is recovering in Coffs Harbour Hospital after he was injured while surfing this morning at Hungry Head.
The man’s friends, who pulled him unconscious from the surf, say he struck his head on the sand after being dumped by a wave.
The Tamworth Westpac Helicopter was tasked to Urunga when it was thought he may need to be airlifted to Newcastle.
“he was conscious complaining of some shortness of breath and some back pain, he’s been transported in a stable condition to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital.”
