WETLANDS TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY IN DUNNS CREEK CATCHMENT

MidCoast Council will construct wetlands near the Lakes Way in Forster to filter untreated storm water runoff which enters the Dunns Creek catchment.

It’s hoped to improve water quality, while reducing litter and sediment entering Wallis Lake.

The state government will foot the bill for the half a million dollar project.

“It was up to scratch beforehand but the main thing is we want to make sure as areas develop and subdivisions and other things go in that the water from those areas is clear of pollutants,” Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said.
