LISMORE COUNCILLOR’S BOLD IDEA TO SUPPORT RESIDENTS FACING HARDSHIP

A Lismore City councillor is hoping to support residents facing financial hardship by using the salaries of former councillors Gianpiero Battista and Greg Bennett who resigned last month.
Nancy Casson will put forward a motion at tonight’s council meeting to establish a $40,000 account for locals struggling to pay their rates.
“I think I might have a few of them on-board with me, I’m hoping that they’ll all support it or the majority will – that’s all I need the majority,” Ms Casson said.
Councillors will also elect the city’s next Deputy Mayor.
