The New England Highway remains closed south of Muswellbrook, after a two car crash this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene just north of the highway’s intersection with Thomas Mitchell Drive at around 3:30.
The driver of the one of the cars died at the scene, while two people travelling in the second vehicle are being flown to hospital.
