MOTHER CHARGED FOLLOWING TAREE TRAIN CRASH

A 30-year-old woman has been charged with several driving offences, following a crash between a car and a freight train north of Taree.

The woman was driving a Commodore station wagon with her three daughters in the car on April 21, when it collided with the train at a rail crossing at Moorland.

Her seven-year-old and two-year-old daughters suffered critical head injuries, while her five-year-old escaped with minor injuries.

The woman has now been charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and one count of negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.

Her driver’s licence has also been suspended.

She’s due to face Newcastle Local Court in August.
