WOMEN’S BOWLS NSW STATE CARNIVAL BEGINS

The Hastings will be home to some of the state’s best lady bowlers this week, for the 86th annual New South Wales State Carnival.

It’s the largest tournament of its kind on the bowls calendar, attracting almost 900 competitors to the five day event.

Skippered by world champion Val Smith, a team from the western Sydney suburb of Merrylands will be defending the title.

“Val Smith is a very good player, she’s number four in the world from New Zealand and she actually comes over to Australia and plays for Merrylands”

Finals will start at Port City Bowling Club on Thursday.
