TWO MEN CHARGED OVER ARMED ROBBERY SPREE

Police have arrested two men at a motel near Newcastle over a spate of armed robberies in southern Queensland and on the Far North Coast.

It’s alleged that over the past month, a 24-year-old man held up five separate businesses – one with a knife, the rest with a handgun.

“Two incidents at a Banora Point Video store, a takeaway store in Banora Point area, also a hotel in the South Lismore Area, a credit union in Casino and a takeaway foot outlet in Lismore.”

Police also charged a 35-year-old with five counts of concealing a serious offence.

“I can say that we have a very high clean up rate in this area for these types of offences so if you are thinking about getting up these sort of antics in this area, think again.”

Both men have been denied bail.
