In a shock turn of events, the Gold Coast Titans have released Beau Champion from the final two years of his contract, to allow the injury-plagued centre to immediately join South Sydney Rabbitohs.
The 26-year-old did not return calls from Nine Gold Coast News today, but is said to be “over the moon” about re-joining his junior club.
It could free up extra cash the Titans need to keep off-contract forward, Greg Bird from signing with the Eels, Dragons or Knights.
Some reports suggest the Gold Coast is now chasing out-of-favour Panther and New South Wales Blues’ centre, Michael Jennings.
