Nine months after opening a new $50-million facility in the Hunter at Heatherbae, mining and construction company Sandvik has told workers it’ll shed jobs across the country.
Most of the job losses are expected to come from the 700 employees at the Heatherbrae plant.
The Australian Workers Union will meet with employees at 11’oclock tomorrow morning.
The company refused to comment today.
The AWU understands Sandvik’s European-arm has ordered its Australian management to find savings.
