CANDIDATE Q & A: Lawrence Higgins, Australian Independents candidate for Newcastle

My motivation for running for the seat of Newcastle is that it is the birth place on the Royal Commission on the sexual abuse of by the Catholic Church . Not only is the rest of Australia watching but the rest of the world . With the F/B site which at the moment has been hacked into namely Australian Legislative Ethics Commission approaching sixteen million hits with 30,00 to 70 ,000 hits a day there is tremendous interest on this subject . Also with more then fifteen other sites dealing with all abuses to those known as the 500,000 “Forgotten Australians ” wanting healing and justice .
This is my first time as a candidate in a Federal Election all though I assisted the liberal party in the last Federal election and was asked to run in this election for them in a western suburbs seat in this election.
I’m from a sixth generation family who has been in all forms of State or church run “CARE ” I bring with me lots of experience as mention in my flyer, in many fields .
I support the Newcastle concerns on CSG and support the The Newcastle University “Solar paint program .”
I do not as an Australian Independent Party beat to the drum of left right left right but deal while with communities issues .
Gay marriage has its support by the community and therefor our party and I support this
Asylum seekers should be sent back to the country they illegally came from and no one is accepted without a current passport . I accept the condition in which they have left but to have the financial means to seek freedom they should join those waiting in the queue for to be penniless should not be forced to sit at the end waiting for due process, when others are doing bribes to access this countries benefits.
The questions put to Lawrence Higgins were:
What motivated you to run for the seat of Newcastle?
Is this the first time you have contested a Federal election?
What issues are important to you in the electorate?
What would be your first priority if elected?
What will people be getting if they vote for you?
How do you rate your chances of winning?
Can you tell us a little about your background and what skills you think you can bring to the role?
What do you think will be your biggest challenge in this election?
How will you be preferencing?
Two highly publicised issues in this election have been the issue of same sex marriage and the
asylum seeker issues, where do you stand on these issues?
