TAREE FIRE COMMANDER DIES AGED 60

Friends and family are mourning the loss of long-serving Taree Fire Station commander, Max Beard.

Six weeks ago he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bone cancer.

Mr Beard passed away peacefully in the Manning Base Hospital on Monday, surrounded by his family.

Colleagues of the 60 year old described him as a friendly and easy-going man, who was always willing to help others.

Max served in the New South Wales Fire Brigade for 41 years, 19 of them in Taree as the station’s commander.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters.

Max Beard was 60-years-old.
