CREDIT CARD SCAM HITS BALLINA BUSINESSES

Police are warning north coast business owners of a credit card scam which has hit two Ballina businesses in the past few days.
The perpetrator calls the victim, offering free gift vouchers.
“When the vouchers are delivered the business owner is asked to pay for delivery by way of credit card, that credit card is then skimmed through a machine, thought to be a skimming machine.”
The operation allows the offender to create new cards and withdraw cash from the victim’s account.
Police are urging the community to report any suspicious activity.
