GLEN INNES ESCAPEE CAPTURED IN NEWCASTLE

A 34-year-old escapee from a minimum security correctional centre at Glen Innes, has been captured on the run in Newcastle.
The man was taken into custody at about 1.40pm on Steele Street, where he was allegedly found with a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition and cannabis seeds.
Police allege the man also robbed a department store at Kempsey, during his three and a half months on the run.
He was taken to Newcastle police station and charged with escaping from the correctional centre, possessing ammunition and drugs and two counts of armed robbery.
He’ll face Newcastle Local Court today.
