40 YEAR SHIFT OVER FOR PETER WEBSTER

Today marked the final Tamworth Harness Racing meet for three months, but it was also Peter Webster’s last time organising the cameras.

Webster has been covering the trots for four decades, and up until five years ago, filmed the thoroughbreds as well.

The 77-year-old still remembers regional New South Wales’ first race day broadcast in Armidale.

“It’s all changed a lot since then. That was back in the early 80’s I think that meeting was, when we did our first Sky.”

Despite his retirement, Webster still expects to be at the showground on race days.
