YOUNGEST GOLFER WINS CENTRAL NORTH COAST WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

Coffs Harbour’s Amelia Mehmet-Grohn is the Central North Coast women’s open golf champion for 2017, after scoring an emphatic win at the picturesque Nambucca Heads Island Golf Course,

With a first round six over par 76 yesterday, the 19-year-old who is on a golf scholarship at Iowa State University in America, teed off today with an eight shot lead.

Amelia carded 72 today to finish at eight-over for the tournament, 22 strokes ahead of club mate Wendy Johnstone.

24 shots off the lead in third was Sawtell’s Joy Lawrence.
