Williamtown’s Astra Aerolab precinct is nearing take-off – invited guests officially opening stage one this morning.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Newcastle Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes, Port Stephens Mayor Ryan Palmer and Newcastle Airport executives were on hand as a plaque marking the occasion was unveiled.
Leading Edge Data Centres and BAE systems are already in negotiations to take up leases in stage one, in support of the F-35 joint strike fighter program.
Work on the aerospace technology park adjacent to the airport began 18 months ago.
