GROUP WANTS OPEN CUT MINING INCLUDED IN NEW MEASURES

A Gloucester community group says it’ll be pushing to have restrictions on open cut coal mining as part of its submission to the State Government on new CSG regulations.
The Barrington Gloucester Stroud Preservation Alliance believes the new measures, which include two-kilometre buffer zones around residential areas, should extend to open cut mining.
The group’s concerned about the potential impacts of two projects in the area, including the proposed Rocky Hill project in Gloucester and the expansion of the Stratford mine.
