SWANSEA POLICE STATION FUTURE

There are fears in the Swansea community that the local police station will be formally closed.

The station is often unmanned.

A petition calling for the station to remain open has been circulating through the suburb, including a local supermarket.

Police Minister Mike Gallacher today said there’s no reason for the station to close, adding that it’s adequate for local needs.

The State Government is currently undertaking an audit of all police resources.

  1. Swansea station is unmanned at all. Police officers work in a truck out of there and attend to jobs, but this is not every day.
