FIREFIGHTERS GAIN THE UPPER HAND ON FAR NORTH COAST GRASS FIRE

Firefighters have been able to control a grass fire burning east of the M1 at Clothiers Creek since yesterday afternoon.

Strong winds fanned smoke from the twenty hectare blaze onto the motorway.

A high fire danger rating remains in place across the Far North Coast.
