NO TIME FRAME FOR REPAIR WORK TO MARINE RESCUE’S NEWCASTLE BASE

Newcastle Council says it has no time frame for when storm damage to Marine Rescue’s city base will be repaired.
Shepherds Hill Cottage was badly damaged during the April storm, forcing the evacuation of the volunteer group.
In a statement, council says repair work is yet to be finalised and funding for the project is still being sought.
Marine Rescue has been forced to operate out of a storage shed while it waits for the heritage-listed building to be fixed.
In the meantime, the group’s seeking community help to find more a suitable temporary base.
