Newcastle and the Lower Hunter was caught off guard this afternoon, as severe storms snuck up, then rapidly swept through.
New Lambton recieved 40 millimetres of rain in less than 15 minutes.
The cloud burst caused some damage and flash flooding, and there are concerns the wild conditions could return.
