Newcastle Council will tomorrow night vote on whether to bring back the show public holiday.
The day off was dropped after small businesses raised concerns about the impact of penalty rates.
This year, show patronage on the Friday was down 9,000 people.
If the move gets the green light, council will write to the Industrial Relations Minister to have the holiday reinstated in 2013.
