Those looking for a quick cool off will be forced to avoid the Newcastle Ocean Baths canoe pool.
The pool is temporarily closed due to the large amount of oysters, which have been growing on the pool walls.
Warning signs have been erected near the pool and lifeguards have been alerted to the potential danger.
The pool is not expected to re-open until after Tuesday 4 December, when the oysters are scheduled to be removed by a high pressure cleaner.
