NEW ENERGY SAVING LED STREET LIGHTS IN PORT MACQUARIE

More than 5,000 street lights in Port Macquarie are being replaced with new energy efficient L-E-D technology, in a bid to reduce electricity costs.
The move is expected to reduce council’s electricity consumption by around 10 per cent.
“We’d be looking at achieving a cost saving in order of $310-350,000 a year depending on how the energy costs go, and that will be a combination of reduced maintenance cost and reduced energy costs” – Council’s Acting Infrastructure Director, Andrew Doig.
Essential Energy have already replaced over 1000 lights, with the $2-million project to be complete by January.
