Police are investigating the discovery of a body inside a car in the Newcastle suburb of Lambton this afternoon.
Officers found the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her mid to late 20s, in the boot of a white hatchback in Grainger Street.
A crime scene has been secured and will be examined by forensics experts.
It’s believed the car, which has no number plates, had been parked in the street for more than 2 weeks.
A 31-year-old man was arrested after attending Newcastle Police Station mid-afternoon.
He is assisting police with their inquiries.
The discovery of the body follows a police appeal at the weekend for information into the disappearance of 27 year-old Raymond Terrace woman Trisha Cobeanou, who was last seen in Hamilton three weeks ago.
