PRIVATE RENTAL SUBSIDY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TRIALLED IN THE HUNTER

The Hunter will be the first region in the state to trial a rental subsidy scheme, designed to get young people off the streets.
Assistance will be available for up to 50 young people, with the O’Farrell Government to pay the bulk of their rent for two years.
Family and Community Services Minister Pru Goward says it’s a hand up, not a handout.
17-year-old Sarah Bartley from Cessnock is the first to be nominated for the trial.
