MAN WANTED FOR ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER ASSAULTS POLICE

A man arrested on a warrant in Byron Bay for attempted murder won’t be extradited to Queensland for at least another four days after he allegedly assaulted a police officer.

28 year old Neil Allan Simpson appeared in Lismore Local Court as planned today, but the magistrate ordered he stay behind bars.

The court heard he bit a male officer during a hospital visit, before claiming he was HIV and Hepatitis C positive.

He’ll re-appear in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, co-accused Toni Marie Prestidge was extradited this morning and will appear in Southport Court tomorrow.

The 35-year-old was also wanted over the alleged attempted murder, and handed herself into Tweed Heads Police on Tuesday.
