Man arrested following police pursuit on the Pacific Highway at Newrybar

A man has been arrested in a dramatic police chase on the Pacific Highway at Newrybar this morning.

Around 8.30am – police tried to pull 49-year-old Andrew Roberts over, after spotting him allegedly driving in the breakdown lane.

They allege he then drove onto a footpath to dodge traffic at Tweed Heads, before he was eventually stopped and his car was searched.

Police found stolen number plates, knuckledusters and drugs in the vehicle.

The man was arrested and later charged with a spate of offences.

He’s been refused bail and is set to appear at Tweed Local Court next month.
