Teenage boy dead after house fire in Hunter Valley
A teenage boy has died after a fire ripped through a property in the New South Wales Hunter Valley region overnight.
At about 10pm, emergency services were called to a blaze on Alkira Avenue in Cessnock.
Fire and Rescue NSW put out the flames, but the house was extensively damaged.
An occupant was treated at the scene but died a short time later.
Police later this morning revealed the victim was a 16-year-old boy.
They are now investigating the circumstances around the incident.
The fire is not believed to be suspicious.
