Sophie Scanlon

Sophie was born and raised on Lake Macquarie, before trading in the beach for the bush on her 18th birthday when she moved to Bathurst to study journalism at Charles Sturt University.

Sophie’s first job in the industry was working in the country music capital, covering crime, agriculture, politics and natural disasters, including a tornado.

In 2022, Sophie returned back to the beach moving with NBN News to their Central Coast bureau, where she stayed for 12 months before moving to Newcastle.

Not only is she back reporting on sport in her own backyard, Sophie also made her debut on the desk in May 2023.

Sophie is a Big Mariners fan in the A-League, and follows the Knights in the NRL.
