Car crashes into Swansea shop narrowly missing occupants
A car has crashed through a sewing shop in NSW’s Hunter region causing major damage.
Emergency services were called to the shopping centre at Swansea in Lake Macquarie about 9.30am today.
“The driver appears to have lost control of the Ford in the shopping centre car park and the vehicle has ploughed through the wall of a haberdashery shop, a local, family-owned business for more than 55 years,” Fire and Rescue NSW said in a statement.
No one was injured in the incident.
“The owner was at the rear of the shop when she heard the impact, the car crashing through shelves of wool and craft supplies,” firefighters said.
The owner said the store was due to host its regular craft group 20 minutes after the crash occurred.
“The crew helped cut the power supply, assess the structural integrity of the building and clear the site of debris.
“It also helped extract the car from the ruins.”
