Two people taken to hospital after NSW police chase ends in fiery crash
Two people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed and burst into flames following a police chase in the New South Wales Northern Rivers region.
The chase began after a driver allegedly failed to stop as directed when police tried to stop a white Holden Commodore on Kyogle Road in Murwillumbah about 9.30am, according to police.
A short time later, the car lost control on an unsealed road and crashed into a power pole, knocking it over, and burst into flames.
The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The passengers, a 17-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man, were assessed at the scene by paramedics.
The girl was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for observation, while the man was taken to Murwillumbah Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.
