COUNCILLORS RALLY RESIDENTS
A group of Cessnock councillors is urging residents to help save the council’s planning powers.
The state government claims the council is taking too long with development applications and is threatening to let an independent panel take control.
But some say the move is politically motivated, and have called a public meeting tonight.
“The people of Cessnock voted in 2008 to have a real mix of people on their local council. They voted to end party domination of council.”
“It’s alright to run all the rallies you want but at the end of the day you have to stop denying there’s a problem and start addressing the problem.”
