78 years ago, the lives of Japanese citizens were forever changed – when the first atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima.
Across the Pacific, the sombre anniversary was today commemorated with a newly-named park in Newcastle – as locals called for an end to nuclear weaponry.
