Community rallies around Dolphin Marine Conservation Park
The community is digging deep to help Dolphin Marine Conservation Park, a week since it announced it was going into voluntary administration… after debts stacked up during the pandemic.
More than $20,000 has already been raised – but there’s still a long way to go, before the business is out of the red.
STATE GOVERNMENT RESPONSE:
- A spokesperson from the Department of Environment and Planning said the Park has received $43,000 in NSW Government funding allocated to the rescue and rehabilitation sector in 2023 to support the marine fauna rehabilitation work it undertakes.
Rehabilitation and conservation values focus on releasing native animals back into their natural habitat.
- A spokesperson from the Department of Primary Industries said it has been made aware of the voluntary administration of Dolphin Marine Conservation Park, and is working with the exhibitor to ensure all requirements, under the Exhibited Animals Protection Act 1986 and relevant standards, continue to be complied with.
- Destination NSW does not have any funding or grants programs that are currently available.
