A man and woman will appear in court today charged following an alleged police pursuit near Newcastle.
A man and woman will appear before Belmont Local Court today, Friday May 19, after an alleged pursuit near Newcastle that began last night around 7:15pm.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District spotted an allegedly stolen SUV when they were patrolling the Hamilton area.
When the vehicle failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, the SUV came to stop on Macquarie Road, Cardiff South, after driving into a tree.
The driver, a 21-year-old woman and the passenger, a man aged 43, were arrested at the scene.
The woman was charged with 12 offences, the man was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Both were refused bail.
