JETS: DONNY CLEARED FOR TAKE OFF
The Newcastle Jets have confirmed they’ve given out-of-favour striker Donny De Groot permission to seek a contract elsewhere, despite having four months left on his current deal.
The Dutchman arrived at the club ahead of its Asian Champions League campaign, but has been plagued by injury, limiting his game time to just four A-League appearances.
In that time, the Jets have signed both Labinot Haliti and Michael Bridges, who are now the starting strikers.
De Groot didn’t travel with the team to Adelaide, with Newcastle looking for its first successive victories of the season later tonight.
