WORK SET TO START ON SLIM DUSTY CENTRE
The much-anticipated memorial for Kempsey’s favourite son has moved a step closer, with the announcement last night of the successful tenderer for the Slim Dusty Centre.
Local company Lahey Constructions will build the $7.5-million centre.
It will be a living museum celebrating the life of Slim Dusty in his
hometown, and will include a cafe, museum shop, and a temporary gallery for travelling exhibitions.
The centre also plans to develop scholarships for young musical talent.
Work on the Slim Dusty Centre will begin almost immediately.
