Alleged drunk driver falls asleep in Maccas drive-through
About 3.10am (Thursday 9 February 2023), police were called to a fast food outlet at Lambton Road, Broadmeadow, following reports a man had allegedly fallen asleep in a drive-through.
At the scene, police from Newcastle City Police District observed a blue Toyota Hilux stationary in the drive through, with the engine still running.
Police turned the vehicle off and attempted to rouse the man; however, NSW Ambulance paramedics were called due to the man’s unresponsiveness.
After several attempts by paramedics, the man regained consciousness and was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The driver, a 25-year-old Stockton man, underwent a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.
The man was arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station where he underwent a secondary breath analysis test that allegedly returned a reading of 0.168.
His license was suspended and he was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range PCA, to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 9 March 2023.
