For those who couldn’t be at Flemington, Taree was the place to be for all the Melbourne Cup action.

Hundreds headed trackside to catch it on the big screen and cheer on a local hero.

Born and bred in the Manning Valley, Rob Douglas joined the Taree bureau in June 2021 after a short career in print media. He joined the Tamworth team in July 2023. Rob graduated from Charles Sturt University in Bathurst in 2016 with a sports journalism degree.
