Urunga’s landmark boardwalk could be in for a major extension if funding for the project is made available in next week’s state budget.
The boardwalk, which stretches 650 metres across the tidal wetland and waterway, is a popular venue for locals and visitors.
The planned work would see the structure extended all the way to the river entrance and beach, on top of the existing breakwall.
Bellingen Council has requested funding for the $400,000 project which is intended to improve safety on the walkway and access to the wetland reserve.
