FARMER FINED FOR ILLEGAL CLEARING
A Queensland farmer has been fined $400,000 for illegally clearing native vegetation on a property near Moree.
John Ross Hudson has been found guilty in the Land and Environment Court of clearing 472 hectares of the Gwydir wetlands, which are an important nesting ground for migratory birds.
It’s the largest fine ever handed down for a native vegetation clearing matter in New South Wales.
