MOTORCYCLIST DIES FOLLOWING TWO-VEHICLE CRASH NEAR LISMORE

A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash near Lismore yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Nimbin Road at Koonorigan – approximately 18 kilometres north of Lismore – around 12.30, following reports a Yamaha motorcycle had collided with a Mitsubishi Triton.

The rider – a 66-year-old man from Queensland – sustained critical injuries and was flown to the Gold Coast Hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the Mitsubishi – a 43-year-old man – was uninjured and taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
