PRESSURE ON TO FIX BRIDGE
Somerton people can breath a sign of relief, with the state government approving a temporary crossing of the Peel River.
The town’s bridge collapsed under the weight of a grain truck in December, after the structure was damaged in the floods.
Since then many residents have been forced to travel a 60-kilometre round trip to access the school and other town facilities.
Today council got the green light from the Department of Fisheries to start work on the crossing tomorrow, which should be completed before school begins mid-next week.
