ALSTONVILLE CRASH | MAN DIES IN GOLD COAST HOSPITAL

A man has died following a crash on the Bruxner Highway in Alstonville yesterday.

Police say a Holden Commodore sedan and Mazda BT50 utility collided at about 3.15pm.

A 21-year-old man who was driving the Holden was trapped for a short time before he was freed by emergency services.

He was flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.

A 47-year-old man who was driving the Mazda was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
