Sober in the Country’s Shanna Whan has taken out an Australian of the Year award for the first time.
The Maules Creek local was announced as the winner of this year’s Local Hero of the Year in Sydney last night, for her work supporting those struggling to say no to alcohol.
After likening herself to Leonardo DiCaprio, Whan has finally taken out an award, rather than simply being nominated.
