MORPETH COMMUNITY CALLS FOR OLD RAILWAY STATION TO BE RESTORED

Members of the Morpeth community met today, calling on the government do something about the village’s old train station.

They say it’s been left to “rack and ruin” since 1988, but has the potential to be an asset.

“This could be carriages for a bed and breakfast, a restaurant… something that is an attraction for people to come to Morpeth.”

Maitland MP, Jenny Aitchison, says she’ll take the matter to parliament.
