DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

The police are hunting for a man who held up the Southern Cross Credit Union in Lennox Head late yesterday.

He threatened employees of the Ballina Street branch with a handgun, and they were forced to pass over a small amount of cash.

“As you could imagine with something like this, it’s very hard to describe how they would feel very terrified, emotionally very upset with what happened,” said Detective Inspector Steve Clarke.

The bandit is described as 165cm tall, with a thin-to-medium build.

It’s the second Southern Cross branch to be robbed, with the Ballina office held up in mid November.

Police are calling for anyone with information to contact Lismore police or Crimestoppers.
