TAMWORTH JOCKEY CLUB RECEIVES FUNDING FOR NEW STABLES

Funding has also been secured for new stables at the Tamworth Jockey Club.

Management has been calling for fresh facilities for the past five years, following a boom in country racing.

The state government cheque will see renowned local trainers, including Cody Morgan and Sue Grills, share in a brand-new $1.6-million stables complex.

“We’re not only increasing our capacity but we’re also making our stables safer and more modern, which not only our horses, but our trainers and our industry will certainly appreciate using on a day-to-day basis.”

An additional $800,000 will fund smaller infrastructure jobs around the track.

The Jockey Club hopes to construct at least 40 extra stables with the cash.
